  • Cite and support your ideas.

State the scenario chosen and address the following:

Why did you pick this scenario?

Why did this happen?

What should have happened? -What would you do if you were the patient/client? -What would you do if you were a healthcare professional?

Has something like this ever happened to you or someone you know?

How can we improve this situation?

What is the relevance to the age/life cycle?

What is the relevance to nutrition?

Scenario 1:

Allia and her husband are in their early twenties and have three children. They are immigrants to the US, work full-time, and are also taking college courses in order to earn degrees in nursing. Allia is 7 months pregnant with her fourth child. At her OB/GYN visit, she is found to have Gestational Diabetes. She attends a class at the local hospital for diabetes management but finds the experience to be very frustrating. Most of the health professionals she sees do not try to understand her cultural and religious beliefs making it difficult to learn and be compliant with her diabetes. Some providers have even asked her if she was going to “finally stop having kids” and question how the couple will be able to care for their large family. Allia visits her college advisor to discuss her situation.

PhotoVoice Film Press Release / Review

PhotoVoice is a research method in which researchers and community members co-produce knowledge. The linked short films depict two FIU PhotoVoice Projects: Neighborhoods of RefugeLinks to an external site., which examines how neighborhoods address homelessness (a project led by Dr. Marr); and Mi Vida con VIH/My Life with HIVLinks to an external site. (led by Dr. Mark Padilla of GSS), which explores what it is like to live with HIV. After watching one of the films, respond to one of the following prompts:

Press Release: Imagine that you are the publicist in charge of writing the press release for one of the films. What can you tell the public about the film, PhotoVoice as a research method, and the topics discussed? Since it is a press release, be sure to convince the public that they must watch the film you are promoting.

Movie Review: Imagine that a newspaper has asked you to write a movie review about one of the films. In writing your review, consider whether or not the film is successful in the task it attempts: can it have an impact on combating the issues it portrays? Why or why not? Include your personal thoughts on the film, as well as on PhotoVoice as a research tool.

Format: A minimum of 500 words and a screenshot of the film(s). Also, the post must meet the grading criteria for discussion posts (so you must refer to at least one concept from the course)

Employee Attrition Analysis Report

REQUIRES TABLEAU

What to Submit

Submit a 5- to 6-page Word document using double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, and one-inch margins. Sources should be cited according to APA style.

Scenario

You are a business development manager reporting to the vice president (VP) of business development at one of the largest life sciences organizations in the Midwest.

You are working with the strategic planning team to assess the current data to make recommendations to its board of directors regarding the organization’s exit strategy. You have started creating your plan for the organizational change and selected members for the guiding coalition. Your next task is to help determine the value of the organization’s assets to the potential acquirer.

One of the core strengths of the organization lies in the value of its talent. Potential buyers in this industry want to know that the organization that they acquire is going to be able retain their valuable employees. So, the VP has asked you to analyze the human resource data in order to determine what the organization is worth. This includes taking a close look at the organization’s human resources, analyzing the attrition data, and making predictions about employee stability in case of an acquisition.

The organization has been collecting information about its employees since its inception in 1999; this information has been organized in a spreadsheet (files to be sent via media fire, upload is not working). In order to understand recent trends in your organization’s workforce, you will analyze this employee data. Your analysis will look at employee attrition and retention and will be included in your report. This will provide a clear picture of your organization’s workforce to help anticipate its perceived value with potential buyers.

Prompt

First, use the employee attrition data to create visuals in Tableau that capture the trends and possible reasons for retention and attrition in the organization from the course scenario. Then, write a report about the current state of human resources and attrition. Include screenshots from your visualizations to support your report. Remember to consider the employee’s employment status when visualizing and analyzing the data. The Status column in the spreadsheet indicates whether the employee is a current or former employee of the organization.

Specifically, you must address the following criteria:

  1. Current employee demographics: Summarize the current employee demographics for the organization from the course scenario.

    1. Use Tableau to visualize the demographic data such as age, sex, marital status, education, and experience, and include the corresponding screenshots in your summary. Choose the graphs or charts that are best suited to represent the demographic data.
    2. Choose at least two different graph or chart types to represent the demographic data and include the corresponding screenshots in your written summary. Explain why you have selected the specific chart types to represent your data.
  2. Attrition analysis: Analyze the given employee data to answer the following questions about attrition in the organization, including its causes and the relationship between attrition and various employment factors. Use Tableau to create a visual summary of the data and include the corresponding screenshots in your analysis. Choose the graphs or chart types that you believe are best suited to represent the required data.

    1. Identify five top reasons for attrition.
    2. For those who left the organization, how many years had it been since their last promotion?
    3. At what age does an employee typically exit the organization?
    4. After how many years of employment does someone typically leave the company?
    5. What is the connection between how many times a year a person was trained, how long they stayed at the organization, and whether they have left?
  3. Retention: Compare the attrition analysis data with your current employee details to evaluate and prevent future attrition.

    1. Using the trends from the attrition data, determine if more current employees are likely to leave. Explain your findings.

  • Tariffs are paid by the citizens of the country imposing tariffs, not by the citizens of the country producing the products upon which the tariffs are levied.
  • The term “trade deficits” is a misnomer. Every country’s trade is always in balance.
  • Trade deficits do not mean the US no longer produces anything to export. The US is the world’s second largest manufacturer and the world’s second largest exporter of manufactured goods.
  • Trade deficits reflect a strong economy. Trade deficits rise during economic expansions and fall during economic contractions. Unemployment falls as trade deficits rise and rises as trade deficits fall.
  • Imports and exports are complements, not competitors. Both are necessary and both contribute to economic growth.
  • Roughly one-third of all US imports and exports is trade between US multinational companies and their overseas subsidiaries.
  • Foreign-owned companies operating in the US number in the thousands and provide directly or indirectly jobs for more than 13 million US workers (roughly, 10% of the US workforce).
  • US trade deficit in goods in 2018 (as a % of GDP) was the same as it was 5, 10 and 15 years earlier.
  • The rise in US goods trade deficit with China has not increased the US total goods trade deficit. It has been offset by reduced goods imports from other trading partners.
  • There is a strong correlation between the rise in world trade and:
  • The rise in world GDP
  • The dramatic fall in the world’s extreme poverty rate
  • The rise in world life expectancy
  • For every US manufacturing job lost to trade between 2000 and 2010, seven US jobs were lost to domestic productivity improvements. Those seven jobs cannot be brought back from overseas because they never left the US.

Write a 700- to 1,050-word evaluation of credible economists’ unbiased opinions on the benefits, costs, and results of current US trade and tariff policies. Complete the following in your evaluation:

  • Evaluate how US trade policy changes in the last 2 years affect global trade activities by multinational corporations.
  • Discuss credible economists’ opinions on the long-term effects of trade and tariff policies changes in the last 2 years.
  • Explain the effect recent changes to trade and tariff policies have had on your employer, you, or someone you know.

Cite at least 2 academically credible sources.

Format your assignment according to APA guidelines.

This activity is comprised of two sections collectively totaling a minimum of 500 words. Complete your reflections by responding to all prompts using APA format.

The success of an economy in effectively employing the four factors of production determines how well that economy performs relative to its potential and relative to other economies.

Address the following:

  • Evaluate non-monetary benefits that open trade has contributed to the world since the end of World War II.
  • Provide at least 2 examples of the above benefits and explain why you believe each is important.
  • Analyze how changes to U.S. trade and tariff policies affected U.S. trade with other nations.

Support your responses with recent (less than 2 years old) credible news sources.

The Global Role of the US Economy

Consider that some politicians, labor unions, and special interest groups argue that U.S. trade deficits are harmful to the economy, and nations that run large trade surpluses with the United States are benefiting from unfair trade practices and agreements. These parties support increasing tariffs on imports and eliminating or rewriting trade agreements.

Analyze 2 credible economists’ opinions on the effects of the 2 of following factors with respect to the total U.S. trade balance. Find 1 economist who is less concerned about trade deficits, who thinks they are less important or that they mean something else is good (U.S. consumers have more disposable income for example). Then find another economist who is more concerned, (he or she may see a trade deficit as having adverse employment effects, for example). Weigh in their different perspectives and state whether you agree or disagree with their assertions, providing the logic behind your thinking. The factors to analyze include:

  • Tariffs
  • Changing trade agreements
  • Manipulating exchange rates
